From MVP to Production: Engineering for Scale

The MVP phase validates ideas. Production engineering validates systems. The transition between them is where many products stall.

Teams should decide early which shortcuts are acceptable temporarily and which will become expensive later: authentication models, data schemas, background processing, and deployment pipelines are common examples.

Production readiness is not a single milestone. It is a set of capabilities: testing, monitoring, backup strategy, security review, and operational runbooks.

The best path forward is incremental hardening. Keep shipping value while closing the highest-risk gaps first.
